I'm not sure what you can tell from these pictures, but these are of the big freeze of 2009. I know it doesn't look like much, but around here it might as well be a blizzard. I will say that the temperature was around 20 degrees and there was ice covering most of the roads. Basically the whole town was shut down for about two days. Nobody went to school. Our bosses had no problem making us go to work though. I guess that's just how things are sometimes. What else do you need to know. Tiffany has been reading like a madwoman lately. What is she reading? She is reading the Harry Potter books. I know she's a little late on that bandwagon. She keeps telling me how good they are, and I keep reminding her that millions of people worldwide have the same opinion. At least they did five years ago. She started the series about a month ago, and she is already a good way into book six. If you think these books are just teaching people about witchcraft, I have news for you. No spell that I have ever cast on anyone has actually worked. Seriously, if you are one of those people, go read someone else's blog. Speaking of other things that people are into, today there is a football game on. I am recording it so I can catch the highlights. Tiffany is at work tonight, and I just had better things to do than sit in front of the TV and drink beer. Everyone knows you can drink beer in front of your computer. I spent the afternoon going over and e-filing our taxes. I also spent some more time playing with my new camera. I ordered another lens which should be here tomorrow, so I am looking forward to trying it out. All in all it has been a productive day. I still have a few things to get done before Tiffany gets home. We have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. If you're lucky, I will tell you about it tomorrow night.

Back In Black

It has been another interesting week. In couch potato news, 24 and Lost both started their new seasons. So far 24 seems like it will be more of the same (and that's a good thing). As for Lost, that show makes me crazy. I have probably said this before, but my opinion on this show will have to wait until it has played out in its entirety. You can't judge a book until you have read the last page. There was a scene in the premiere where Hurley explained to his mother everything that had happened so far. Basically it was a 60 second summary of the show up until now, and it sounds completely riduculous at best. I'm too far invested to quit though.

Friday we went to Dallas. We spent the afternoon at the Dallas Museum of Art checking out the King Tut exhibit. Tiffany likes this kind of thing, and I have to admit that it was pretty fascinating. Basically the exhibit consists of artifacts found in the tomb of King Tut, as well as some of his predecessors. The actual mummy of King Tut is in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt. Maybe we'll make it there someday. That night we went to the AC/DC show at American Airlines Center. It had everything you expect from a big rock show: fireworks and canons, a giant bell, a train locomotive, and an oversized inflatable woman. Maybe that isn't your cup of tea, but I have wanted to see this band for as long as I can remember. I can't say that it was the best show ever, but I certainly was not disappointed. One point of note here is that Tiffany and I were among the younger crowd members, which is often not the case.

Saturday we picked up my cousin Sarah and spent most of the afternoon shopping. We were able to pick the most fashionable maternity clothes that Dallas has to offer. We also spent some time at the outlet mall in Allen. The only major purchase was a new purse from the Coach store. I think Tiffany has an addiction. After that we met Traci and Kent in Hurst at an Italian place called Italliani's. The food was wonderful, and we had a good time visiting with them. After dinner, we stopped at Matt and Stephanie's house. They were unable to make dinner, and I couldn't deprive them of a chance to see me.

On Sunday morning, me, Tiffany, Sarah, and Josh ate breakfast at the Pancake House. Afterwards we went to IKEA, Half-Price Books, and Central Market. We were pretty well shopped out at this point, but we did stop at Babies R Us on the way home. I still don't know what most of that stuff is.

That pretty much brings you up to speed. Monday and Tuesday were just work days for us. The weather is cold and icy, but it doesn't seem to stop anybody from getting out and driving in it. They did cancel school here today though. I do have one more interesting story. Last weekend we had been to Lowe's to look at shutters for our windows. We are finally tired of living with paper shades. We set up an appointment to have someone come out and measure our windows. As it turns out, one of the guys that came to the house was a good friend of mine from high school. We had a good time catching up with him. I just hope he does a good job with the shutters.

Here is a picture of Baby Murray's Christmas haul. Honestly, there may be other things; this is what I could find. I was really just looking for a reason to play with my new camera. As for these baby gifts, I don't really know what most of this stuff is. My parents gave us a piggy bank. Apparently babies are expensive. Our baby (being a financial genius) has already opened a savings account. We probably won't let him (or her) put any money in the stock market for a few more years. Of course, he will probably learn all about gambling next month in Vegas.

Lost & Found

I found this earring under a cushion in our living room. If it belongs to you, let me know. Not much else has happened since the last blog. I got my new camera yesterday. I am still trying to figure it all out, but I think I'm going to love it. I bought the Canon 50D if you were wondering. I have had a couple of people ask about our Vegas trip. We are going to be there from February 13 until the 18th. We are staying at the MGM Grand.

Onesie--Is that really a word?

Here is a picture my uncle Danny took at Christmas. It's me holding up Baby Murray's favorite Christmas presents. I know they're the favorites because I have psychic ability. The Metallica onesie was a gift from my cousin Sarah. It is living proof that rock fans come in all sizes. Everybody knows kids just listen to whatever their parents listen to anyway. Thank goodness Tiffany and I both have great musical taste. My aunt Mary Nell found these tiny Chuck Taylors somewhere. Nobody knows where she finds stuff like this. Personally, I think they are a perfect match to the onesie. Tiffany had her second appointment last week. Everything looks normal at present time. We did get to listen to the baby's heart beat. It was 150 beats per minute, which sounded fast to me. Maybe he/she (I think it's a girl) is running laps in there. The next appointment is February 2. As for the the mother, Tiffany is starting to feel normal again. At least she seems better. She is nowhere near as tired as she has been, and I haven't heard her mention nausea in days. I think it's possible that she may live through this. In the meantime, we are getting on with our lives. I spent the afternoon researching a trip to Vegas. I've heard all of the reasons not to take a pregnant woman, but the bottom line is this: we want to go, and the doctor said it was fine. We just want to get out of town for a few days. If anyone wants to meet us out there, we are looking at the middle of February. I'm sorry that's short notice. Another weekend has come and gone. I will probably just watch the 24 premiere on TV tonight before settling in. I'm sure there are more productive things I could be doing, but then what will I do tomorrow?

Happy New Year

Hello, blog readers! I will try to catch you up on the latest Murray news. Christmas came and went. We had a great time seeing everyone. The big winner in the gift department was definitely Baby Murray. I guess this is how it's going to be for the rest of my life. Basically, Christmas is ruined. It's a good thing that I know the true meaning of the season. I'm not even sure what all of these baby gifts are, but I guess I still have a few months to figure it out. By the way, I took a grand total of zero pictures this holiday season. If anyone want to share anything they took, I will be glad to post them on the blog. I ordered a new camera this week. As soon as it gets here, I will try to make better use of this blog space.


I was really looking forward to this weekend. I took Friday off to go to the Cotton Bowl with MeMaw. The game was not that great, but we had a great time anyway. Tiffany was sick, so she didn't make the trip with us. I must have caught whatever she had. I have been home for the last two days with the stomach virus that's been going around. I'll spare you the details, but it hasn't been fun. This afternoon is really the first time I have been out of bed for more than a few minutes. Tiffany has her next appointment tomorrow morning, so I hope I feel well enough to go. I will fill you in on the details either way. I hope everyone is having a terrific 2009 so far.

The weather outside is frightful.

I guess it could be worse. It's not like we're stranded in a blizzard or anything, but it is a lot cooler than I like it to be. Ask me in July and I'll tell you it's too hot. I'm just difficult that way. I can't believe Christmas is only two days away. I have never been less prepared than I am this year. We finally finished our Christmas shopping this weekend. If I bought something for you, I hope you enjoy it. I'd like to tell you that I put a lot of thought into it, but my mind seems to be other places these days. We also managed very little in the way of decorating this year. I'm OK with it. My friend Christina had a baby last week. It was a healthy baby girl. She was seven pounds and probably some ounces and some other numbers that don't mean anything to me. Maybe next year they will. Anyway, we got to visit with them in the hospital and hold the new baby. I am quite sure that I'm going to be an expert at this baby thing. Already I have gotten more advice than we ever did while building a house. I'm just glad I know so many smart people. My parents (the smartest people of all) will be here tomorrow night, as well as my sister. I am looking forward to seeing everyone and having a house full. Happy Holidays, blog readers!
